By: Writing Tips Today

Need information on writing a resume? Having the necessary skills to make a good job application is becoming increasingly important for college graduates in today's competitive job market. Many students may be forced to take part-time jobs to help pay off student loans after graduation. While working part-time, however, you should also continue to seek full-time employment.

In both cases, you will probably be required to submit a resume or complete a job application form. Your college's Careers Service may be able to offer students information and advice on resume writing. If you are thinking of applying for a job before graduation, we strongly advise you to visit your Careers Service office to find out what help is available.

It is common practice to write a cover letter to accompany a resume or job application form. The purpose of our next article will be to help you to write effective letters of application. Some of the skills you learn will also apply to writing a resume.
