The cover letter should put the best light on your qualities and achievements. This is also true of resumes and personal statements in job applications. Use words and phrases that will help you create a positive impression.

Avoid unassertive phrases such as “I feel that” or "I think that."

Choose “action” words and phrases such as “achieve”, “experienced in”, and “provided assistance to.”
