Term Papers- Guide to Writing them

Term Papers Near the end of the semester of your English Composition class, your writing professor will probably tell you that you need to write a term paper. Term papers are quite different from other types of writing assignments because you will need to do research in the library on the assigned topic. In your term paper, you will need to make quotations from the reference material you have read in the library. A common term paper assignment topic is that of how to solve the problems of pollution or global warming. In this case, you would need to go to the college's library or your town's public library and find books that give facts and statistics on these environmental problems. You can jot down quotations by hand on note cards, although most students prefer to take notes on their laptop, if they have one. One very important word of advice is that you need to be extremely careful about the "authority" of the references that you use in your term paper. Recently-published library books and articles in online or printed academic journals are usually regarded as being sources of excellent academic authority. However, you generally need to avoid using material from commercial webpages or wiki's. Also be sure to ask you professor what citation method to use. There are many different citation styles, including the APA, MLA, and Chicago styles.
